Taylor Chan is only 18 years old but is facing serious charges alongside Daejon Love.

During the multi-year romance-and-investment scam, Chan served as a co-conspirator and a fake financial advisor to Love. Together, they defrauded at least 26 women out of approximately $1.3 million.

In February 2022, Taylor Chan teamed up with Daejon Love to launch a highly coordinated romance fraud scheme. That means that Chan has been doing this since he was at least 14 years old.

To begin with, Love would find victims on dating apps and trick them into believing they were in a sincere romantic relationship. Following that, Love would introduce the victims to Chan, who falsely portrayed himself as Love’s professional investment advisor.

Now, Taylor Chan is paying the ultimate price.

A mugshot of Taylor Chan was released after last month’s arrest. The 18-year-old was accused of helping a fake San Francisco 49ers player. Dating apps were then barred from his use under court terms. Those conditions were accepted before his release from custody.

That was just the start of things.

Moreover, Chan must not violate laws. Furthermore, he must surrender his passport, must avoid contact with the alleged victims in the case, and must not consume alcohol or narcotic drugs. He also “must not use any online dating sites, social media applications, or dating applications.”

Additionally, Chan cannot “possess or use a device with internet access, or access the internet. He must have prior permission from the Pretiral Services officer,” officials wrote in the document. He also “may only possess a cellphone,” they added.

Chan and Love met women on apps like Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder before they tricked them into sending money. Their scheme lasted from February 2022 until the day they were both arrested last week at the Boise Airport in Idaho.

Taylor Chan is currently out on release pending trial. Unfortunately for his partner, Love has been ordered to remain in custody after federal prosecutors argued he was a “serious risk of flight.”

Both men are facing charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. Additionally, the two counts each carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison.
