The Cowboys selected Trysten Hill in the second round (58th overall) in 2019. He was their first draft pick that year, as the team gave up its first-round selection to the Oakland Raiders for star wide receiver Amari Cooper ahead of the 2018 trade deadline.
Hill played three seasons for the UCF Knights before turning pro, earning Second-team All-AAC honors in 2017. He was the only player from the Knights’ football program drafted in 2019.
More to come.
Trysten Hill Never Lived Up To Expectations In The NFL

The Cowboys have usually drafted very well under Jerry Jones, but Hill was certainly a miss for the polarizing owner/GM. Hill played only 25 games over four seasons in Dallas, recording 0.5 sacks and 33 combined tackles.
Dallas waived Hill in the 2022 season after he failed to make an impact in seven games. The Arizona Cardinals picked up Hill, and he went on to record a single sack and six combined tackles.
In 2023, the New England Patriots signed Hill to their practice squad. He’d appear in three games as a Patriot over the next three seasons, but was released after two game appearances in 2024.
Hill went unsigned in 2025, and this disturbing arrest may keep him out of the NFL for good. He entered the league with a fair amount of hype in 2019, but it never came together with either of the three teams he suited up for.
