The Detroit Lions haven’t had the easiest or quietest NFL offseason. The NFC North team saw one of its best players retire at the turn of the year, following a battle with a back injury.

Earlier this week, authorities named cornerback Terrion Arnold in a Florida robbery/kidnapping case. After a tumultuous 2025 season when they couldn’t find consistency, the Lions have several issues to address before returning to the top of the conference.

Additionally, a former player leaked a troubling situation that the team has refused to address.

In an interview with Justin Rogers on Saturday, left tackle Taylor Decker shared details about his departure from the Lions. He became a free agent after the 2025 campaign, but the way he left wasn’t the best.

“It’s been radio silence. It’s uncomfortable,” he told Rogers. “It’s awkward. It feels like a high school breakup, where you can’t make eye contact when passing each other in the hall.”

Decker said that he felt the Lions weren’t completely honest with him, and now wonders why nobody from the organization reached out.

“This does feel a little personal. Since talking to Campbell on Feb. 23, he hasn’t heard from team leadership,” Rogers wrote. “There wasn’t a follow-up from his coach, Holmes never reached out, and Decker had to make first contact with position coach Hank Fraley, a man he publicly went to bat for when Campbell was hired.”

The Lions still have chances to compete for big things, but it seems that what made them a solid organization might no longer be there.
