Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Jordan Shipley is still recovering from his injuries. Last week, it was reported that he was in “critical but stable condition” following an accident at his ranch.

The former All-American wide receiver suffered third-degree burns over 20 percent of his body. Jordan’s father, Bob, asked for prayers for his son. Unfortunately, something more disturbing would happen.

Sunny Shipley, the wife of former Texas wide receiver Jordan Shipley, gave an update on his health following that ranch accident. However, there was something disturbing she needed to state first. She wanted to let people know that the photos circulating that appear to show his facial injuries are fake.

“I’ve had some messages about AI pictures of Jordan going around,” Sunny wrote via Facebook. “Please know that I or anyone else will never post a picture of Jordan’s face in the hospital online. His face is going to heal fine.”

Sunny added that she does not want her sons to encounter the images. She and Jordan Shipley married in 2011. They share two children.

Currently, prayers are being sent for the health of Jordan Shipley. The former Texas star suffered a horrific accident after a fire at his ranch. Shipley was airlifted to a hospital in Austin, Texas, in a critical but stable condition.

Before he got to this point, Shipley made his name on the field.

The former All-American wide receiver at the University of Texas played for the program from 2006 to 2009. He finished with 3,191 yards and 33 touchdowns on 248 catches. His most notable moment was in 2008 when he returned a kickoff 96 yards against No. 1 Oklahoma. It helped lead Texas to a victory. Later that same year, he would set a Texas record for receptions.

His final year was likely his best when he logged 116 catches for 1,485 yards and 13 touchdowns. As good as he was in college, it wouldn’t translate to the NFL. Jordan Shipley was a third-round pick in the NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

A two-year career there led to brief playing time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012. Shipley finished his NFL career with 79 catches for 858 yards and four touchdowns.
