George Pickens’ name has been floated in recent trade rumors. Coming off the best season of his career, Pickens’ expectations were high. Once again, he had to prove he deserved a large contract extension, but the start of the season has been underwhelming.

The Cowboys are 3-5 after their latest collapse against the Arizona Cardinals. Brian Schottenheimer’s future was questioned after the game, while rumors about Dak Prescott playing his final season with the team began to swirl, too.

Meanwhile, Pickens’ future has become a recurrent topic in NFL circles. A Cowboys rival could reportedly try to make a move for the wide receiver before the trade deadline.

Insider Jordan Schultz shared the latest on a potential Pickens move. During a recent edition of “The Pivot,” he mentioned the 49ers as a potential landing spot for the former Pittsburgh Steelers star.

“But the biggest name around the league that people are really starting to get curious about is George Pickens in Dallas,” Schultz said. “He’s playing on the franchise tag. He has not been utilized the same way as last year.”

Pickens has played eight games this season, racking up 39 receptions for 533 yards and two touchdowns. He hasn’t been close to the level of performance he displayed last season, and this year’s usage has played a big role in that.

Ian Rapoport reported that the Cowboys don’t seem open to trading Pickens this season. However, that could change before the deadline strikes.
