New York Giants star Abdul Carter was nowhere to be found on Thursday, though not in the way that would get him on the back of a milk box.

The second-year pass rusher skipped a team meeting, with his absence a surprise given recent developments.

Carter and Jaxson Dart are at the center of some controversy heading into their second season with the Giants.

The quarterback stirred some controversy by introducing President Donald Trump at a rally in NY last Friday. As distasteful as some folks thought Dart’s appearance was, Carter’s reaction to it was perceived to be worse.

The former Penn State star called out his teammate on social media rather than address it privately.

He later claimed that things were fine between them, revealing they’d spoken privately.

Be that as it may, the Giants decided to hold a team meeting on Thursday. Players are said to have cleared the air, agreeing to keep such reactions in-house.

Carter was obviously one of the focal points. However, he was a no-show.

Abdul Carter Had A Good Reason For Missing Team Meeting

According to the New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy, fans shouldn’t read much into the absence.

Why?

Because the player told the team he had religious family commitments beforehand.

“Giants had their team meeting to move forward after Jaxson Dart’s intro of President Trump. Abdul Carter was not there, but don’t read too much into it: He had previously communicated he had family obligations related to a religious holiday, sources say,” Dunleavy noted.

Understandable, but the Giants choosing a day they knew Carter would be out does seem strange, especially as he was the main reason for it.

The Giants probably wouldn’t have needed to call a meeting if the pass rusher hadn’t taken to social media to question his teammate.

Then again, he insists it’s behind them.
