Tempers flared fast during the joint practice between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Rams in August 2023. Maxx Crosby and Cam Akers exchanged punches after one play in Thousand Oaks. Crosby chased Akers nearly 25 yards on a run and tried to punch the ball free even after the play looked dead. Akers took clear offense to the extra effort from the bigger defender.

The 5-foot-10 running back and the 6-foot-5 defensive end started throwing punches right away. Both teams rushed in as coaches and players worked to break up the scuffle. Rams coach Sean McVay sent Akers to the showers early. Crosby sat out the rest of the team period on the sideline after the dust-up.

Maxx Crosby showed zero regret when reporters asked him about the incident afterward. He delivered a blunt response that spread quickly online.

“S–t, I was just doing what I do,” the Raiders star said back then. “He didn’t like that. So he got what he got.”

Crosby made the comment with a smile and added that it is what it is.

The Raiders defensive end made it clear he plays every snap at full speed. Akers later pushed back on social media and asked what exactly he “got.” He said anyone with eyes saw what really happened during the exchange. The size difference stood out, yet Akers refused to back down.

Three years later, Maxx Crosby got into a heated altercation with new Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins during training camp practice on August 7. Crosby deflected a quick pass attempt in the backfield during team drills. Cousins immediately lost his cool and grabbed the star edge rusher high around the collar.

An intense shouting match followed between the two leaders. Coaches and teammates stepped in to separate them. Crosby was sent to the sideline for the rest of the session while Cousins stayed on the field to finish the drive.

Head coach Klint Kubiak later described the incident as standard training camp behavior. He noted both players are key leaders on the team who were simply going at it. You can read the full details of the Cousins-Crosby camp fight.
