An iconic boy band has signed its name on the unofficial list of candidates to perform at Super Bowl 61 Halftime Show. Following a polarizing Bad Bunny performance on Super Bowl 60, which averaged 128.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s Big Data + Panel rating system.

It remains to be seen if the league will try to make a not-so-controversial decision with next year’s halftime show performer. Bad Bunny’s appointment caused such an impact that Turning Point USA announced an alternate Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show.

Next year could still be headlined by a Latino artist, while three of the biggest American artists are betting favorites to perform at SoFi Stadium on Feb. 14, 2025. However, one group could have something to say about it, and they are working to be in the league’s consideration.

The Backstreet Boys, one of the most iconic boy bands of all time, made an appearance during Super Bowl 60. They didn’t perform, but appeared in a hilarious commercial. After that brief “experience,” they want to raise the stakes.

AJ McLean made it clear his group wants to perform in Los Angeles during a Wednesday show at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Per TMZ, McLean proposed the idea to the crowd, and they were all in.

“Let’s make it happen then!” he said.

Coincidentally, the league tried to have them as their 2001 halftime show performers, but they decided to sing the national anthem instead. Although they aren’t as popular as they were two decades ago, the Backstreet Boys still have a large fanbase.
