Jake Paul once shared a moment that fans still remember. He reacted on camera after finding out an NFL player had messaged his then-girlfriend, Julia Rose.
Paul is now engaged to Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam, proposing in March, and after that, she has been quite active on social media. Before that, he dated model and reality star Julia Rose on and off from 2019 to early 2022.
The couple often shared their lives online. One Instagram video showed a mix of shock and humor when they revealed that an NFL player had slid into Rose’s DMs.
Paul didn’t hide his surprise and let fans watch his reaction in real time. The clip later resurfaced online and became the talking point again.

In the Instagram video, Paul held the phone and addressed the room. “We’ve caught a player in Julia’s DMs,” he said. “Does anyone know who (beep) is?” The video muted the name, but Paul clearly reacted with disbelief.
People in the room gasped and laughed. Paul then turned to someone off camera. “That’s your favorite player?!” he asked. The tone stayed playful.
Julia Rose took the phone back and read the message out loud. “He just sent ‘you with this,’” she said, while pointing out a fingers-crossed emoji. “What does that mean?” Paul answered with a laugh. “[Does that mean] you tied? I don’t know. That’s what I’m saying. They have no f**king game.”
Fans quickly tried to solve the mystery.

Several viewers claimed Paul took Deebo Samuel’s name in the clip. Samuel played wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers from 2019 to 2024. He later moved to the Commanders after a trade for a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Paul and Rose later ended their relationship for good. Paul moved on and built a new life with Leerdam. Still, this old clip keeps popping up.
