Jarrett Stidham has been handed an unexpected playoff assignment, and his wife has gotten behind it.

Stidham, a backup quarterback for the Denver Broncos, will start against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game this coming Sunday. The development comes in the wake of an injury to Bo Nix, who fractured his ankle in Saturday night’s win over the Buffalo Bills.

Head coach Sean Payton revealed shortly after the loss that Stidham would be stepping in as the starter. The Broncos have since added another quarterback to their roster in Ben DiNucci.

Meanwhile, Jarrett’s wife, Kennedy, has taken to Instagram to send Nix a message.

The former Baylor soccer star posted a photo of Nix to her story, with a praying hands emoji at the top.

She also sent a message to her husband, telling him to “Do it for Bo.”

Of course, it’s going to be a tough ask. Stidham hasn’t played a single snap this season. He last played in the preseason, though he gave a good account of himself.

The Denver backup completed 30 of his 38 pass attempts for 376 yards and four touchdowns. The performance also earned him an impressive passer rating of 143.0.

While his wife’s message will be well received, perhaps the best encouragement has come from Nick Foles.

The former NFL quarterback took a savage shot at the Patriots via X on Sunday evening. Foles had kind words for the Broncos and their fans over the injury, but also reminded them that New England hasn’t fared very well against backups.

He should know; he beat them in the Super Bowl as a backup.
