Jason Kelce shared an emotional moment this week as he spoke about the grief he felt after his wife, Kylie, suffered a miscarriage in 2018. The former Eagles star opened up during a speech at the March of Dimes 43rd Sports Luncheon in New York, where he received a sports achievement award.
Kelce said the loss hit him harder than he ever expected. “I remember it just being absolutely devastating,” he told the crowd. He said he struggled to hold himself together at work. “I remember going out to my truck in the middle of practice and meetings, overcome with grief and emotion.”
Kylie Kelce recently shared on a podcast that she suffered a miscarriage, and many people reached out with support. She and Jason have four daughters, Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett, and baby Finnley. Recently, she also pushed back at claims that they gave their daughters boy names, saying the names are simply ones they loved.
Jason Kelce Mentions The Support He Got

Kelce said the people around him helped him through those dark days. “You really find out in moments like those how awesome sports are, how awesome teams are,” he said. He explained that coaches, teammates, and friends stepped in to support them. “You really find out how prevalent this actually is, how often miscarriages happen. And it’s something a lot of times doesn’t get said and spoken about.”
Kylie introduced her husband at the event and spoke about the strength he shows at home.
“We have had the joy of building our family together,” she said. “What most people see is the intensity, the grit, how hard he truly works in everything that he does. But what I see is his love and his care.”
In October, Kylie detailed the moment she learned she had a missed miscarriage. She said she first learned she was pregnant in August 2018 and thought everything looked normal. The couple then traveled to London for an Eagles game and shared the news with family.
Things changed when she returned to the doctor. “It felt like everything went into slow motion,” she said. “And they could not find the baby on the doppler. I remember being like, ‘Oh, there isn’t a heartbeat.’”
Doctors told her the baby stopped developing between nine and ten weeks. Kylie said the loss shook her. “It was a s***ty day because it was Jason’s birthday,” she said.
She said the experience affected every pregnancy that followed. “Having had that experience then messed with my brain for every consecutive pregnancy,” she said. She waited past 16 weeks before telling anyone she was expecting again.
The Kelces now focus on raising their four daughters while continuing to speak openly about miscarriage.
