Jed York, the principal owner and former CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested in late August 2026. It happened during an undercover prostitution sting in East Palestine, Ohio.
Authorities state that he responded multiple times to a fictitious online advertisement posted by an undercover officer from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Specifically, York used the alias “Joe” and eventually agreed to pay $140 to $160 for a sexual encounter at a designated mobile home park.
Consequently, when York arrived at the fake address on Sunday, cops intercepted his rental SUV and took him into custody. Shortly thereafter, he was booked into the county jail. He was charged with suspicion of solicitation of prostitution and possession of criminal tools, which police identified as the cellphone used to arrange the meeting.

An undercover ad in Columbiana County led to Jed York’s arrest. A meeting was set at Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community in East Palestine. Consequently, one hundred sixty dollars in cash was seized from a rental car.
Kyle Shanahan called the matter personal and “irrelevant to our guys.” Meanwhile, divorce papers from May were already on file between him and his wife.
Eventually, Jed York’s parents were found and asked about the situation.
Family Says the Situation is Resolved
York’s father, John York, was reached at DeBartolo Corporation offices in Youngstown. “That’s been resolved,” was the line given to the Daily Mail. Meanwhile, Denise DeBartolo York declined to comment on the same visit. Windows at the family house stayed shut in the aftermath.
Some locals praised the family’s malls and teams in the same breath as the jokes. Others called the stop shameful because of that same last name.
‘What is it with East Palestine?’ 72-year-old Diane quipped as she sipped tea with elderly friends at the Southern Park Mall. ‘First we had the train wreck, and now this.’

However, as Diane and her circle of friends’ laughter echoed through the food court, she gave respect to the York family.
‘I will say for that family – they’ve done a lot of good. Everything you see here.’
San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York is currently under active review by the NFL for potential discipline.
