Before sending All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones attempted to trade him to the New York Jets in a move that would have turned the NFL upside down.

In August, the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to the Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Parsons then signed a four-year contract extension worth $188 million.

Just before the trade deadline, Jones acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets in exchange for 2026 second and 2027 first-round picks.

But if New York GM Darren Mougey didn’t make a foolish Jets decision? Jerry Jones would have made a head-scratching and lopsided trade that likely would have set Dallas back for years to come.

During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones revealed that he offered the Jets Micah Parsons and a first-round pick in exchange for Quinnen Williams. As ridiculous as that offer was from Jones, the Jets did him a favor by turning it down.

“I actually tried to trade for Williams. I tried to get the Jets in training camp…I wanted a one and Parsons for Williams. I thought that much of Williams, and he’s showing you what he can do for a defense.”

So instead of getting the best player in the trade PLUS a first-round pick, the Jets turned down Jones’ offer. And it’s things like this, ladies and gentlemen, that make the Jes football’s most dysfunctional franchise.

Micah Parsons Trade Is Looking Like A Win-Win

For the first half of the season, the Packers looked like the overwhelming winners of the Micah Parsons blockbuster trade. But since the Cowboys acquired Williams, it’s starting to look like both teams benefited from this deal.

The Cowboys got two first-round picks and a quality defensive tackle in Clark for Parsons, then flipped one of those picks into Williams. Dallas’ defense has improved mightily since Williams’ arrival, and they still have another first-round pick to utilize.

Say what you want about Jerry Jones’ performance as a GM, but the decision to trade Parsons actually looks like the right call now.
