Jets Reportedly Reach Decision On Firing Aaron Glenn After 2-5 Start

Aaron Glenn entered the 2026 season carrying heavy pressure after another disappointing season with the New York Jets. The coach was mentioned as one of the candidates to lose his job this season after Week 1, and the rumors haven’t stopped after seven weeks.
The Jets are 2-5 after losing to the then-winless Miami Dolphins in Week 7, handing them their first win of the campaign. Amid a two-game losing streak, speculation about Glenn’s future resurfaced.
New York showed glimpses of quality against the Tennessee Titans, but they struggled to beat more competitive teams. The lack of positive results has put Glenn in the spotlight again.
Insiders Indicate Glenn Will Finish The Season

On Wednesday, ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler shared the latest on Glenn’s future. Sources indicated that the Jets will let him coach for the remainder of the season.
“Most people I talk to think Aaron Glenn will get to coach through the end of this season before the team evaluates the two-year sample and decides whether to bring him back for a third,” Graziano said.
Fowler added that the Jets weren’t considered a playoff team before the season, meaning that their expectations were lower and Glenn didn’t carry much pressure.
“My sense after asking around to those in the industry who closely follow such things is that Glenn likely will get some time to attempt to right the ship, but the hot seat conversation is real, and this job is on the radar for potential change at some point. It’s important to note that the Jets were not viewed as a playoff-caliber team in the offseason or preseason,” Fowler said.
The 2027 NFL draft will be loaded with talent. New York could make a splash and add the right pieces to finally compete. Fans will learn after the season if Glenn will lead that project.
