Jim Harbaugh offered a glowing assessment of Sherrone Moore after leaving Michigan last year. Unfortunately, he has been left red-faced following the most recent developments in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines are searching for their third coach in four years, with Moore failing to get to the two-year mark. They fired the 39-year-old for cause this Wednesday. The cause? Well, the university claims to have proof of an inappropriate relationship with a member of staff.

Moore, Harbaugh’s longtime assistant, took over after the latter opted to return to the NFL.

He began his tenure with a bold promise, which he ultimately fulfilled, albeit not in the way anyone expected

As for Harbaugh, the Los Angeles Chargers head coach gave his former understudy a full vote of confidence. Speaking in his introductory press conference with the Chargers, Harbaugh declared that Michigan made the right hire and that Moore was the man for the job.

“Sherrone is the right man for the job. Nobody else. That’s the guy. They got it right,” he said.

Given what has happened this week, the statement has aged terribly. Michigan has fired Moore, and he remains in a jail cell.

The former offensive line coach and offensive coordinator completely crashed out after losing his job on Wednesday.

He was arrested after allegedly breaking into the residence of the woman he was accused of having an affair with and threatening to kill her.

Sure, Harbaugh’s statement aged like milk. However, there’s no way he could have seen any of that coming.
