Joe Burrow Was Asked About LSU Hiring Lane Kiffin, And His Response Was Telling [VIDEO]

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had a rather fascinating response about the LSU Tigers’ controversial hiring of head coach Lane Kiffin.
After weeks of speculation about his future with the Ole Miss Rebels, Lane Kiffin indeed decided to leave the program immediately for the LSU Tigers. Kiffin signed a seven-year deal worth $91 million to inherit a program that had just given $54 million to Brian Kelly in his severance package.
Kiffin has faced intense criticism for leaving Ole Miss after a superb 11-1 regular season finish. The Rebels are headed to the 12-team College Football Playoff, with their opponent TBD.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Joe Burrow was asked for his thoughts on his alma mater hiring Kiffin. Interpret his facial expressions and tone as you will, but it certainly seems like he’s not on board with it.
“Umm, I think he’s a good coach,” Burrow said after hesitating for a few seconds. “I guess we’ll see how it goes. Those are my thoughts.”

When another reporter asked Joe Burrow about the idea of playing in the CFP after your coach leaves? He said it’s “not an ideal situation for a playoff run.”
Burrow played two seasons at LSU, leading them to a national championship in the 2019 season after claiming the Heisman Trophy. He was drafted first overall by the Bengals in 2020.
Joe Burrow & Bengals Look To Keep Slim Playoff Hopes Alive

Burrow suffered a turf toe injury in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and missed the next nine games. The Bengals managed to win just a single game without their star signal-caller, in Week 7 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Joe Burrow returned to action last week against the Baltimore Ravens, throwing for 261 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, per ESPN. With the Steelers also losing to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Cincinnati suddenly has a slim chance at the AFC North division crown.
For that to happen, the Bengals would have to win out and finish 9-8. With tough schedules ahead, it’s not out of the question for Baltimore and Pittsburgh to each finish 9-8 or worse. Thus, the division is very much in play for Cincinnati if they win their last five games.
