Cameras caught Josh Allen’s furious reaction after the Buffalo Bills failed to convert a key fourth-down play in Thursday night’s ugly road loss to the Houston Texans.

Trailing 23-16 early in the fourth quarter, Bills head coach Sean McDermott told his offense to go for it on fourth-and-one at the Houston 22-yard line. Josh Allen handed the ball off to star running back James Cook, who was dropped for a loss on the play.

As he made his way back to the sideline, a frustrated Josh Allen could be seen uttering, “What are we doing?” The Bills went on to lose 23-19, falling to 7-4 on the year and essentially ruining their last remaining hopes of winning a sixth straight AFC East crown.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Josh Allen stated it was merely “frustration” and felt they should have called a timeout, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“Just frustration on my part,” the reigning MVP said. “In a situation like that we probably should have just banged a timeout. We got the play in late. Didn’t give ourselves a chance there.”

The Bills visit the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium next Sunday.

Allen was under duress all game and took eight sacks. If not for a heads-up play by Texans star edge rusher Danielle Hunter, Allen could have suffered a serious injury as the veteran edge rusher was bringing him down.

The Bills’ defense has never looked this bad under head coach Sean McDermott. The offensive line is in shambles, and the pass-catching corps leaves a lot to be desired. At the end of the day, even peak Josh Allen can only do so much to keep his team in games.

If Buffalo is to extend its postseason streak to seven, the rest of the roster better step up and take some of the pressure off of Allen.
