Justin Herbert Trade Talks Heating Up — Final Piece Of The Puzzle For NFC Powerhouse?

Amid an underwhelming 2026 NFL season, Justin Herbert remains a popular name in trade rumors. The Los Angeles Chargers dropped to 0-7 after a terrible performance against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, in which they scored just 9 points.
Herbert’s performances have become a talking point across the league, with some blaming his girlfriend, Madison Beer, for causing this year’s regression. While he struggles to get his first win of the season, trade rumors begin to swirl.
A six-win team could make a run for his services ahead of next week’s trade deadline.
Insider Pushes Vikings to Make a Call on Justin Herbert Availability

At 6-1, the Minnesota Vikings have one of the best defenses in the NFL this season. However, the other end of the ball has looked completely different. After benching and trading JJ McCarthy, Kyler Murray took the reins of the offense. The former No. 1 overall pick has struggled to connect with his receivers, and the passing game has become the weakest link on the squad.
Insider Albert Breer urged the Vikings to test the waters on a potential Herbert trade.
“I wouldn’t mind the Vikings taking a swing on this,” Breer said. “I think the idea of trading for a player like this is similar to trading for Jeffrey Simmons. Jeffrey Simmons wasn’t necessary available.”
“I really think that Justin Herbert, there is a top five quarterback in there. It’s not what I’m seeing, it’s what the rest of the league is seeing,” he added. “In a way, it reminds of the way people talked about Matthew Stafford in Detroit. … And I do think the Vikings, at the very least… pick up the phone and say, could we offer you three first-round picks for him and just see what they say.”
Three first-rounders for Herbert might be a little too much for plenty of front offices. However, after multiple hypothetical scenarios insisted that he could become a winner with the right pieces around him, perhaps pairing him with Justin Jefferson could finally unlock his potential.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently reported that Herbert won’t be going anywhere this season, but at 0-7, one can wonder if the Chargers are weighing the option.
