Kansas City Chiefs Could Pull Off Rare Trade For 9-Time Pro Bowler

The Kansas City Chiefs prepare to resume the 2026 NFL season after their bye week. They will clash with the winless Los Angeles Chargers (0-5) in Week 6, hoping to worsen their awful start to the season and complete a sweep in their first divisional duels.
Kansas City bounced back after a terrible 2025 campaign (6-11) and now are considered buyers ahead of the trade deadline. After landing wide receiver Justin Watson, they could go for a rare intra-division trade that would put them on one more level above the other three franchises in the AFC West.
Kansas City’s Four Sacks Tie Miami For The NFL’s Lowest Total – Khalil Mack Could Change That

On Tuesday, Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay suggested one trade to elevate the best teams in the first five weeks of competition. When he discussed the Chiefs’ options, Kay mentioned Khalil Mack, a Los Angeles Chargers star.
“Although the Chiefs don’t have much financial wiggle room to make blockbuster trades, Mack is surprisingly affordable. He’s on a one-year, $18 million contract that included a $10 million signing bonus, which means he would only be owed a shade over $6 million if he were dealt at this point in the campaign. That one-year deal, coupled with the Los Angeles Chargers’ 0-5 start, makes an intra-AFC West trade more realistic.”
Mack, 35, is past his best years. Yet, the nine-time Pro Bowler can still contribute. He posted 5.5 sacks last season and has managed three this campaign. The Chiefs’ defense ranks dead last in sacks, tied with the Miami Dolphins with four each.
The Chargers entered the league set to compete for the divisional title. However, so far, they are competing for the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft. Perhaps this is the time to hit the reset button, get rid of Justin Herbert and other stars, Mack included.
