After a potential season-saving victory over the Indianapolis Colts, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed former Houston Texans star running back Dameon Pierce to bolster their backfield.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Chiefs have signed Dameon Pierce to their practice squad. The move comes three days after Pierce was waived by the Texans ahead of their ‘Thursday Night Football’ clash with the Buffalo Bills.

A fourth-round pick of the Texans in 2022, Pierce stood out as a rookie with 939 rushing yards and 1,104 yards of offense. However, he lost his starting job to Devin Singletary in 2023 and never regained that star-like form, and Joe Mixon took over as the Texans’ RB1 in 2024.

Even with Mixon missing all of 2025, Dameon Pierce could never regain that starting running back job. Veteran Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks have been Houston’s main RBs this season.

Per Pro Football Reference, Pierce has 1,674 rushing yards and eight touchdowns over his first four NFL seasons. The Kansas City rushing game has struggled this season, as Hunt leads the team with only 457 rushing yards.
