One person was killed and multiple others, including children, were injured in a shooting after the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade. It happened in 2024 as thousands were celebrating.
The violence broke out just after the parade rally ended at around 2 p.m. near Union Station. Chiefs players and staff were inside the building when shots rang out. In total, 33 people were injured. Among them, 22 suffered gunshot wounds, including 11 children.
Two adult men were arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting. One of them, Dominic Miller, was indicted on four felony charges. An autopsy confirmed that the bullet that killed Lisa Lopez Galvan came from Miller’s gun.
He admitted his role in the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rally and found out his punishment this week.
Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Shooter Pleads Guilty

Dominic Miller was initially charged with second-degree murder in the shootings that killed Lisa Lopez-Galvan and injured 23 others. On Monday, Miller pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and could soon be released.
He pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful use of a weapon. A Jackson County judge sentenced him to two years in prison, with credit for time served. Miller has been held since the February 2024 shootings.
Prosecutors said the state’s self-defense laws complicated the case. All told, 12 people brandished firearms during that Kansas City Chiefs parade. The second-degree murder charge Miller initially faced carried a sentence of 10 years to life in prison.
Lopez-Galvan’s family released a statement.
“The greatest justice would be having Lisa back, but since that is not possible, accountability still matters,” the family’s statement said.
“We also share the hope expressed in court that change can come from this and that people recognize the importance of making better choices. Our family continues to focus on honoring Lisa’s life and supporting her children and loved ones.”
Dominic Miller walked out of Jackson County Court, soon to be a free man.
