Add Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James to the list of those who can’t comprehend Bill Belichick’s snub from the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Bill Belichick failed to receive the mandatory 40 of 50 votes to receive his spot in the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. Inexplicably, the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, after all.

Take a simple look through X/Twitter. You’ll find plenty of sports fans, analysts and athletes expressing outrage over the development. That includes Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who questioned how his snubbing was “possible.”

LeBron James was also stunned and unhappy over the news:

ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr. and Seth Wickersham reported that Belichick was “puzzled” and “disappointed” upon learning that he wouldn’t be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Given his ridiculous career resume, Belichick’s feelings are completely justified.

Somehow, six Super Bowl wins and 302 victories (third-most among any coach) weren’t enough to please the Canton voters.

As football fans know, the Hall of Fame voters aren’t required to explain why they snubbed a player or coach. Still, it’s impossible to understand how someone with Belichick’s resume isn’t a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Many would argue that Belichick is the greatest coach in NFL history. Even before he became a legend in New England? Belichick was a defensive guru who helped the New York Giants to two Super Bowl rings as an assistant to Bill Parcells.

If Belichick isn’t a Hall of Famer in his first year of eligibility, it makes you wonder how long Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh and Sean McVay will have to wait. It is unbelievable that Belichick has to wait at least one more year.
