David Montgomery does not appear happy with the Detroit Lions. Montgomery ran for 17 yards on four carries in the Lions’ 29-24 loss against the Steelers. He had one run of 14 yards, but he was otherwise shut down. With the Lions playing from behind in the final two quarters, he was hardly involved.

Now it appears that he doesn’t want to play another down for the team. The Detroit Lions’ running back has caught the attention of fans with his recent online actions.

On Tuesday, a social media post highlighting his uniform in the Lions’ locker room went viral. That was just the start of things to come. The 28-year-old liked a comment from a supporter who had replied to one of his Instagram posts.

A supporter shared, “I love you, bro, but you should request a trade. The way they’re treating you and glazing Gibbs is atrocious. Look what happens when we don’t use you. We lose.”

David Montgomery’s behavior would be huge news if not for other controversies. The biggest news in Detroit has surrounded a fan being assaulted by DK Metcalf. That moment has led to the Steelers’ wideout losing $45 million in guarantees.

The Detroit Lions are trying to fight for their playoff lives, and David Montgomery is jumping off the bandwagon. Montgomery, the veteran running back for the Lions, caused a stir on Tuesday. It has led many to believe he wants to leave the team.

The Lions heavily featured Montgomery alongside Gibbs last season. He rushed 185 times for 775 yards and 12 touchdowns over 14 games. The team went 15-2 during the regular season. In 2025, he has taken a backseat to Gibbs in the game plan.

David Montgomery has rushed 140 times for 649 yards and eight touchdowns over 15 games. The Lions are 8-7. Detroit signed Montgomery through the 2027 season. Despite that, he might push for a trade this offseason.
