NFL announcers have become a popular topic among fans in recent weeks. At the end of December, fans actively called for Rich Eisen to be fired for his performance during the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans matchup.

On the other hand, Kevin Harlan was celebrated for his electrical call of Caleb Williams’ miraculous touchdown pass against the Los Angeles Rams last week. Fans can connect with announcers on a deep level, but when the bond isn’t there, things can get complex.

The latest case involves a Minnesota Vikings play-by-play announcer and a wild comment about anti-ICE protesters. Paul Allen caused a stir during Friday’s episode of “The Paul Allen Show,” where he, Chad Grenway and Alec Lewis discussed weather in the region. Allen, however, took things a little further.

“In conditions like this, do paid protesters get hazard pay? Those are the things that I’ve been thinking about this morning,” he said.

It didn’t take long for fans to call Allen out on social media. Many criticized him for the comments, going as far as calling him the worst announcer in the NFL.

“His show has been abysmally bad (for me) for years. It’s essentially Vikings state run radio & his pushing of protesters being paid which assumes all are being directed to do so instead of seeing a Minnesota population that is weary of poorly trained thugs acting as terrorists killing citizens and trampling daily on multiple amendments without consequence as a major problem,” one fan said.

“So 80 year old Alan Page was out protesting yesterday. PA should ask him how much he got paid? Such a ignorant comment,” another fan said.

“So Paul Allen doesn’t think people might be upset about Brownshirts murdering people?” a third fan wrote.

“Which is why I’ve ALWAYS SAID F**K Paul Allen .LISTEN TO HIS WORDS MINNESOTA HE THINKS U ALL ARE PAID,” another fan said.

“Paul Allen is the worst announcer in football,” a fifth fan added.

“as opposed to paid agitators on the radio,” a sixth fan wrote.

Contrary to these fans, Allen’s co-hosts didn’t have an interest in addressing his comments. He changed topics after getting a cold response.
