An unnamed coach was reportedly once fired over circumstances similar to those of former Michigan HC Sherrone Moore. Now, fans are trying to figure out who the mysterious coach was.

On Wednesday, Michigan fired Sherrone Moore after discovering that he was having an inappropriate relationship with a female staffer. In another disturbing twist, Moore was arrested yesterday for allegedly assaulting a woman, who told 911 that the subject had been stalking her for months.

Moore and his wife, Kelli, have been married for 10 years and have three daughters. It hasn’t been confirmed, but speculation is ramping up that Moore had an affair with Wolverines staffer Paige Shiver.

According to popular sports reporter Gabriel Morency, Moore isn’t the only notable American football coach who recently lost his job for being involved with a mistress. Here’s what Morency reported:

“Since 2020 only Pete Carroll and Brian Flores lost their job after a winning season. Flores filed a lawsuit with the Dolphins and Carroll remained in an advisory role with the Seahawks,” a fan said.

“Bruce Arians when he “stepped down” for Bowles to become head coach 🤔,” a user said.

“Jim Caldwell fired because ownership wanted “higher standards,” guessed another.

“Not my Lovie?!?” another inquired, referencing Lovie Smith.

“John Fox or Mike Mularkey,” a fan inquired.

“Grok keeps saying Hue Jackson – is this right?” guessed another.

Note that Morency didn’t specify a head coach so that it could be an assistant of any kind. Morency won’t disclose who, so you’ll have to speculate upon yourselves.

Moore joined the Wolverines as their tight ends coach in 2018, when Jim Harbaugh was entering his fourth year in Ann Arbor. He eventually made his way up to offensive coordinator and was the interim HC for three games in 2023, when Harbaugh served a suspension over the sign-stealing scandal.

Per Sports Reference, Moore’s official record as the Michigan HC is 18-8-0 for a winning percentage of .692. He succeeded Harbaugh after the Wolverines’ 2024 national championship triumph, with the latter taking the Los Angeles Chargers’ HC position.

Biff Poggi will finish the season as the interim coach. The Wolverines close out their season against the Texas Longhorns in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
