Marshawn Kneeland’s pregnant girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, made an emotional public plea on Facebook as she continues to mourn his untimely death.
On Nov. 6, Marshawn Kneeland died of an apparent suicide after a chase with police. According to the Frisco Police Department, Kneeland’s vehicle was found crashed and abandoned as officers tried to locate him.
Soon after 1:30 a.m., authorities found Kneeland dead at the age of 24 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police were warned that Kneeland had expressed suicidal thoughts before they found him deceased.
On her Facebook account, Catalina Mancera thanked everyone for the support she has received and made a plea for the public to share any photos of him they may have:
“Hi everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all the love, prayers, and messages that have been sent my way. Your support has meant more to me than I can put into words during such a painful time.
As I continue honoring Marshawn’s memory, I’m trying to gather as many photos and memories of him as possible. If you have any pictures of Marshawn whether they’re recent, old, funny, or meaningful. I would truly appreciate it if you could share them with me. Every photo helps me hold onto a piece of him and the beautiful impact he had on all of us.
Thank you again for your kindness, your prayers, and for keeping my sweet baby in your hearts. It brings me comfort knowing how deeply he was loved.”
The NFL sent out a memo to all 32 teams, asking them to all hold a moment of silence for Marshawn Kneeland before the Week 10 games on Sunday. Multiple players paid tribute to Kneeland, including Green Bay Packers All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons (Kneeland’s Dallas teammate in 2024), Tennessee Titans safety Mike Brown and New York Giants QB Russell Wilson.
Marshawn Kneeland: A Life Gone Far Too Soon

The Cowboys, one of the NFL’s best teams at drafting and developing talent, selected Kneeland in the second round (56th overall) in 2024. He was used in a rotational role in his two seasons with Dallas, but it was likely only a matter of time until Kneeland became a full-time starter.
More importantly, Kneeland was a proud son, brother, boyfriend and soon-to-be father. It’s awfully devastating to learn that he was suffering from significant mental health issues, to the point where he believed that things wouldn’t get better.
Kneeland’s untimely death is just another reminder that you never know what someone is going through. Always be kind to others, and check on your loved ones regularly and let them know how much they matter.
