The most heartbreaking loss of Matthew Stafford’s illustrious NFL career wouldn’t stop him from reminding everyone why he’s one of the league’s ultimate good guys.

Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams fell 31-27 to the Seattle Seahawks in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game. The likely 2025 MVP award winner was near-perfect with 374 passing yards and three touchdowns, but the Seattle offense made just a few more plays to win the George Halas Trophy.

One could understand if Stafford wished to go straight to bed after the Rams’ gut-wrenching loss. But this is Stafford we’re talking about,

Matthew’s wife, Kelly Stafford, posted an Instagram story of the Super Bowl 56 champion tucking his daughters into bed at 2:30 a.m.

And in case you missed it, Matthew Stafford was sure to give a heartfelt message to former teammate Cooper Kupp after the game. Stafford told the Seahawks wideout to, “Go win your damn Super Bowl.”

Rams head coach Sean McVay was bothered by a question about Stafford’s future after the loss. Considering how close they were to a Super Bowl, there’s no reason to think Stafford won’t return to LA in 2026.

Matthew Stafford & Rams Need To Run It Back In 2026

Stafford and the Rams were close to splitting last year, but the two sides agreed to stay together for a fifth season. And after the type of season No. 9 just had, why shouldn’t the two sides run it back in 2026?

Los Angeles was this-close to winning its third NFC Championship under Sean McVay. They have one of the league’s best young defenses and an explosive offense, one that could add even more weaponry in the offseason.

Stafford doesn’t seem like someone who wishes to play as long as possible like Tom Brady. But 38 is hardly old for an elite QB in today’s NFL. He should definitely return to LA and seek a second Super Bowl.
