Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby surprised the NFL world on Friday after he decided to get away from the team, at least for the time being. The Raiders decided to shut down Crosby for the rest of the 2025 NFL season, which he didn’t take well. As a result, he exited the building upon learning the news.
The Crosby situation reignited conversations around the league, and some started speculating whether his future would look silver and black after this situation. Seahawks reporter Corbin Smith reacted to Jay Glazer’s report on Friday.
Smith noted that Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider tried to land Crosby ahead of the trade deadline, but owner Mark Davis shut down any potential trade involving Crosby. Additionally, Smith said that the executive could reignite his pursuit when free agency opens.
“(Seattle was definitely trying to make this happen in October… Don’t be surprised if Schneider is trying again in March),” he tweeted.

The Dallas Cowboys were also mentioned as a potential landing spot for Crosby before they traded for the New York Jets’ defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and the Cincinnati Bengals’ linebacker Logan Wilson.
Pete Carroll shared details of conversation with Maxx Crosby

Raiders head coach Pete Carroll confirmed the reports on Friday. He shared details about what transpired before Crosby decided to leave the team facility.
“We talked when he was getting out of here,” Carroll said, per Sean Zittel of Vegas Sports Today. “He’s been fighting it so hard for so long. He’s been fighting this thing for nine weeks, whenever Kansas City was. Each week, he has done everything you could possibly imagine a guy could do to play, and he’s been able to.”
“He said, ‘I’d like to get out of here,’ so I said, ‘Yeah, get out of here,’ so he took off … It was exactly like you would think he would do, and he should do, and I agree with him a thousand percent on how he responded,” he said.
