Maxx Crosby and Patrick Mahomes keep their intense rivalry alive. The Las Vegas Raiders star shared details of a recent text exchange. Both stars returned from injured reserve ahead of schedule.

Crosby appeared on Bussin’ With The Boys. He described the respect that exists away from the field. The pair go to war every time they meet, but off the field, they are in very good terms.

“Me and Pat. Like you’re going against them. You know what time it is? This war. It’s the most respect off the field compared to anybody,” Crosby said. “I’ll tell you, like Andy Reid will (expletive) randomly shoot me a call in the offseason. ‘Man, I’m praying for your family. Hope everything’s well.’ Those guys that really are that dude. They’re that guy, and then they’re still barking after the game.

“But like Pat Mahomes, like we go to war. He knows I’m trying to murder him, and that (expletive) is trying to make me look stupid every time. But off the field, it’s love every time. When you’re willing to go to that length to have success and a guy that’s gonna compete like that, there’s like that mutual respect. It’s like in the fight game.”

Crosby noticed Mahomes working out and throwing the ball. The Chiefs quarterback had also landed on injured reserve. Both players healed faster than expected.

The Raiders edge rusher fired off a simple four-word text. “We’ll see you soon,” he wrote. Mahomes replied quickly and positively.

“We’re back, can’t wait to see you,” the quarterback responded.

Crosby called the exchange cool and respectful. The two competitors understand each other completely.

Their on-field battles often turn viral. Crosby has sacked Mahomes multiple times over the years. The matchups bring out the best in both athletes.

Crosby compares the relationship to combat sports. True competitors earn respect through all-out effort. The off-field love does not soften the on-field edge.

“It’s the most respect off the field compared to anybody,” he explained.

The Raiders’ defensive end still wants to ruin Mahomes’ day, and he doesn’t hesitate to go full throttle against the three-time Super Bowl champion.

Both players expect to be ready for Week 1. The AFC West remains loaded with talent this season. Crosby and the Raiders aim to close the gap.

Crosby continues to lead the Raiders’ defense. His production and leadership stay elite. The upcoming meetings with Mahomes will again deliver drama.
