Sam Darnold did just enough to secure a key win for his Seahawks team over the 49ers.

The Seattle Seahawks secured the number one seed in the NFC and a bye week during the first week of the playoffs. It was a much-needed win for Darnold, who made headlines after the game.

Darnold, who seemed to ignore ESPN reporter Laura Rutledge, wanted to speak with Brock Purdy. Seahawks QB Sam Darnold gave a classy playoff message to the 49ers’ star QB after their Week 18 matchup.

“I’ll see ya in a couple of weeks,” Darnold said to Purdy after Saturday’s game.

Seattle and San Francisco are two of the best teams in the NFC heading into the playoffs. It is entirely possible that both teams will see each other again.

On Saturday, Sam Darnold finished 20-of-26 for 198 passing yards. Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet had his back as they combined for 33 carries for 171 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Following the win, Darnold also became the first quarterback in NFL history to have 14+ wins and 4,000+ passing yards in back-to-back seasons, per OptaStats’ Greg Harvey.
