Mike Tomlin had an unusual reaction to Tyler Loop’s missed field goal on Sunday Night Football.

Nobody might be happier than the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach. There had been talks of replacing Tomlin amid a season where they lost their grip on the AFC North. Had they lost on Sunday night, he might be on his way out.

Steelers fans have come to take Mike Tomlin’s colorful quotes for granted. He delivered another one after Tyler Loop missed the game-winning kick. Asked about the last-second field goal miss by Ravens kicker Tyler Loop and if he would’ve hit it, Tomlin delivered an all-time quote.

“You know how it is — if my aunt had male parts, she’d be my uncle,” he said.

Mike Tomlin’s future with the Steelers has been a topic of discussion for months. The team was once 4-1 and looking to run away with the AFC North crown. By the time they faced the Ravens last month, they were 6-6. A win in that game changed a lot for them.

More heartbreak would occur as the weeks passed. Disgruntled fans called for Tomlin to get fired after an ugly Nov. 30 home loss to the Buffalo Bills. In the end, they got the most important victory of the year.

On Sunday, Adam Schefter broke down which head coaches were at the most risk of losing their jobs. He made it clear that it would include Tomlin.

“[Tomlin’s] got one year left on his contract, and there’s a feeling, for many, that he will fulfill what he started,” Schefter said.

“He’s the longest-tenured head coach in the National Football League — 19 years. The fans in Pittsburgh were calling for his firing about a month ago. Yet, he is on the verge of winning a division, and the feeling is that he’ll be back in Pittsburgh for at least another year, though there will be conversations that occur.”

Mike Tomlin has achieved a remarkable feat with 19 consecutive non-losing seasons to start his career. The Steelers have not had a losing season since their 6-10 record in 2003.

However, the last time the Steelers won a playoff game was in 2016. You can fully expect replacement talks to ramp back up if they lose to the Texans.
