Things got heated between San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Jauan Jennings and Carolina Panthers safety Trevon Moehrig after the ‘Monday Night Football’ clash at Levi’s Stadium.
The 49ers survived a three-interception day from quarterback Brock Purdy to hold on for a 20-9 victory over the Panthers. The win moves the 49ers to 8-4 on the season and a step closer to their fourth playoff appearance in five years.
Moments after the game ended, ESPN cameras caught Jauan Jennings and Tre’Von Moehrig exchanging words in a heated scene. Jennings went over and smacked Moehrig on the helmet:

Things got pretty intense on the field and expect some punishment from the league.

But of course, context matters. It appears that Jennings was retaliating against a low blow he took from Moehrig just moments earlier:

At any rate, it’s Jauan Jennings and the 49ers who got the last laugh with a pivotal win on prime time. Jennings finished the day with five catches for 41 yards and one touchdown, per ESPN.
As for the 6-6 Panthers, they sit half a game behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first in the NFC South. The two clubs play each other twice in the final three weeks.
