New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has revealed how much money he lost gambling at LSU.

Boutte was arrested for making almost 9,000 illegal bets while in college. The charges were dropped, and he was fortunate enough to avoid punishment. However, he lost so much money, it was consequence enough.

One video from his time at Baton Rouge went viral, showing him livid during a game in which he is suspected of having bet on himself.

The wideout spent three seasons with the Tigers before the Patriots drafted him in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He was arrested for computer fraud and underage gambling after his rookie season.

According to the allegations, Boutte placed over 8,900 bets using a fake account between April 2022 and May 2023. He was cleared after charges were dropped in the summer of 2024.

The former Tiger recently wrote a piece in The Players’ Tribune in which he says he lost close to $100,000.

Boutte revealed having developed an addiction to gambling after suffering a broken ankle in his second year at LSU.

He says he started gambling because he wanted to remain competitive, but soon found himself burning through his NIL money.

“I’d wake up early in the morning, and the first thing I’d do was bet. I’d stay up late and bet. All day. All night. I had insomnia, so if I woke up in the middle of the night, phone next to the bed, I’d bet. Any little money I had, it was going straight to FanDuel,” he said.

I knew I was addicted. When you lose, and you’re an addict, there’s this voice in the back of your mind like, No, no, no…… I gotta get my money back. I GOTTA get it back.

Boutte wasn’t satisfied when he won either; he simply kept at it. He reveals he was “completely broke” after losing a total of $90,000.

The 23-year-old noted that the birth of his son at the start of his junior year helped him pull himself out of the hole.

He also expressed his appreciation for the Patriots for sticking by him.
