Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce reportedly made sure New York taxpayers weren’t left paying for their wedding.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani revealed Friday that the celebrity couple covered $160,000 in costs for permits and NYPD security for their wedding at Madison Square Garden.
Speaking to reporters, Mamdani confirmed that Swift and Kelce paid for both the event permit and the police presence.
“They paid $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event,” the mayor said.
The figure includes the $60,000 street-closure permit required to secure the area around Madison Square Garden on that day.
The remaining $100,000 reportedly went toward overtime and security provided by the New York Police Department.
Given the scale of the event, the additional expense was hardly surprising.
Wedding experts recently estimated that Swift and Kelce’s star-studded ceremony ultimately cost between $20 million and north of $30 million. Millions were reportedly spent on decor, catering and attire alone.
So the six-figure expense was actually just a small part of the overall budget.
Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift Wedding Is The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Heavy police security was visible throughout the celebration.
Officers surrounded the venue as guests arrived, while crowds of fans gathered outside hoping to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds. At one point during the evening, an NYPD officer even went viral for delivering pastries to fans waiting outside.
The wedding has continued to dominate headlines in the days since the ceremony.
Earlier this week, online sellers even began listing items they claimed were collected outside Madison Square Garden, including scraps of fabric, soda can tabs and other keepsakes allegedly tied to the event.
When it came to security and city services, Swift and Kelce covered the bill themselves, ensuring the city wasn’t left holding the bag.
