Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a leg injury on Wednesday Night Football. The injury occurred on the team’s very first offensive drive when edge rusher Dre’Mont Jones sacked him.
All of Lumen Field got quiet as soon as they realized that Darnold was hurt. Consequently, he would make his way to the sideline before heading to the locker room.
Slow-Motion Video Captures Leg Injury Suffered by Sam Darnold

As Sam Darnold tried to escape out of a collapsing pocket, he was caught from behind by Dre’Mont Jones. The impact of being grabbed sent him down with his right knee first. Although Darnold managed to get up and walk off the field under his own power, he was seen limping heavily toward the sideline.
Consequently, as the Patriots took over on offense, he was escorted into the blue medical tent for further examination. Backup quarterback Drew Lock immediately began warming up to prepare for his entry into the game.
The Seahawks Cannot Win Without Darnold

The team officially announced that Darnold is questionable to return to the game. Lock took over under center to lead Seattle’s second offensive possession. He is more than likely going to play at least until the first half is over.
Without Darnold, the Seahawks are not the same team. Moreover, the defense is great, but the offense will have to rely on the ground game.
Sam Darnold enjoyed a career-defining 2025 NFL regular season, leading the Seattle Seahawks to a spectacular 14-3 record and an ultimate Super Bowl LX victory.
Darnold started all 17 regular-season games, finishing fifth in the NFL in passing yards and earning a selection to his second career Pro Bowl.
