New York Giants Are Refusing To Announce Timeline For Jaxson Dart’s Injury — Here’s Why

Jaxson Dart went down with a brutal knee injury against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2. 

For the team to have a chance at relevancy this season, they need their star quarterback to get back on the field soon. But that may not be the case here. While doctors suspected the worst, the X-rays came back negative for an ACL tear. Seemingly a positive initial sign.

MCL was the suspected culprit, but unfortunately, it has become more than that. 

Giants Don’t Want To Give A Return Timeline For Dart

Despite a series of MRI tests, the severity of Jaxson Dart’s injury has not been released publicly.

However, according to Mike Garafolo, the possible extent of the injury is not what Giants fans would want to hear.

“It’s not an ACL [injury], but the MRI told a different story than the Giants were initially expecting. There was more damage than what the evaluations on-site showed. Sources are telling us there are a few timelines on the table. None of them good,” Garafolo said. 

“One of them is season-ending for Jaxson Dart,” he added.

The glaring part of the report is that there was more damage to Dart’s knee. The team and Dart’s camp are weighing their options right now. 

Obviously, his long-term health is the priority here. It’s unclear how severe it is, as Garafolo concluded that the injury might prematurely end Jaxson Dart’s 2026 campaign. 

Perhaps that’s why the Giants aren’t rushing their announcements. They are clinging to a possible miracle.

Tough Break For The Giants

After a stellar rookie campaign, Jaxson Dart was expected to lead the Giants back to the playoffs in 2026. And he started his sophomore campaign on a strong note, too, as they thwarted the Cowboys in their season opener due to his superb play on the field.

Now, as they ponder what’s the best course of rehabilitation for Dart, the Giants are at the crossroads again. QB Injuries at this early stage of the season are tough for teams. There aren’t many names available to assume the role effectively. 

If Dart misses the entire season, New York may become one of the teams that need a new QB in 2027.
