The New York Giants are expected to be aggressive in the 2026 NFL offseason. After parting ways with Brian Daboll and signing John Harbaugh as their new head coach, the Big Blue should elevate its level, led by soon-to-be second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Harbaugh should bring multiple changes at every level, and improving the roster is at the top of the team’s needs. They shocked the NFL world with the decision to release Bobby Okereke, a defensive captain.
The move will save them $9 million in cap space, but the Giants need to bring in somebody to fill in the void Okereke leaves. Meanwhile, they continue to work to put together a competitive team in 2026. The Giants were reportedly close to landing an All-Pro defender this week.
New York Giants Nearly Landed Kansas City Chiefs Star Defender

Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star, the New York Giants were one of two teams with chances to trade for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie.
“The Trent McDuffie trade came down to the Rams and the Giants, I’m told. In the end, the Rams were the team willing to give up first-round PLUS. The Chiefs get a 1, 3, 5 and 6. Really good haul. It’s the equivalent of the 20-21st overall pick … where KC took McDuffie in ’22,” McDowell wrote.

McDuffie spent four seasons with the Chiefs, playing 56 games, recording 246 tackles, 5.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and three interceptions for two yards. The Los Angeles Rams improved their secondary with McDuffie’s addition.
