A New York Giants legend made the headlines this week after revealing the extent of a recent health scare. The Giants are living great moments at the moment. They signed veteran coach John Harbaugh to lead their project after firing Brian Daboll midseason.
Things aren’t going so well for their legends, though. First, Michael Strahan was under fire for his behavior after the Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett broke his single-season sack record in Week 18.
Strahan wasn’t the only one in a complex position recently. Another defensive player revealed he went through a serious health situation.
Former New York Giants DE Osi Umenyiora Revealed He Was In A Coma For 5 Days

During his return to “The Breakdown,” a show he co-hosts with former teammate Jason Bell for the NFL’s UK and Ireland channel, Osi Umenyiora shared shocking details about a recent hospital visit that turned into a five-day coma.
“I was in the hospital for almost a month. I was in a coma for five days, had some extensive surgery,” the former Giants star said, adding that he found out who was there for him in bad times.
“Because there were some people who showed up every single day. There were some people who came to see me when I was in a coma. There were some people who traveled from all across the world to come see me when I was at my lowest points.”
He added that Bell stood by his side the entire time and was right there when he woke up, showing his appreciation for the former defensive back.
Osi Umenyiora spent two of his 11 NFL seasons with the Giants, playing 129 games (started in 89). He recorded 391 tackles, 750.0 sacks, 13 passes defended, 32 forced fumbles, and 13 fumble recoveries for 224 yards and three touchdowns.
He was a two-time Super Bowl champion, two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro.
