NFC Contender Urged to Land Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby in Blockbuster Move

Multiple rumors about the futures of Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby have emerged during and after the 2025 NFL season. Fans have urged the Cleveland Browns star and the Las Vegas Raiders leader to leave their respective teams and join squads with a better chance of challenging for a Super Bowl.
Two NFL stars who would start the 2026 season on different teams have been named, and another has been identified. A trade proposal sent Garrett to the New York Jets, while two different rumors linked Crosby with the Seattle Seahawks.
Another NFC West team could make a blockbuster deal for any of them, as they try to improve their pass rushing. These are two of the best defensive players in the league, and whoever lands them would become a real threat to opposing quarterbacks.
San Francisco 49ers Linked With Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby

After a poor 2025 season on the defensive end, the San Francisco 49ers will likely go out to land a pass rusher. They ranked last in sacks last season (20), even lower than some of the league’s worst defenses, such as the New York Jets and the Dallas Cowboys.
Former NFL player Shawne Merriman told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco that the Niners need to make a big splash and add either Garrett or Maxx Crosby to their roster.
“If I’m the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, I’m going to take a run at Myles Garrett; I’m taking a run at Maxx Crosby [and] I’m taking a run at these guys because they’re an instant upgrade,” Merriman told Maiocco.
“Nick Bosa comes back and nobody’s going to know how it is because what, his second or third injury now? I’ve been there, and after enough injuries you’re not the same player. I’m not saying this is going to be the case with him, but there should be some level of concern from the San Francisco 49ers front office on how he’s going to come back.”
If the Niners listened to Merriman, it would take a lot to make this happen. Crosby’s relationship with the Raiders has gone sour, while Garrett expressed his frustration with the Browns after they signed Todd Monken as head coach. It won’t be easy, but there might be a path for San Francisco.
