Football fans shouldn’t expect any significant changes or additional NFL rules next season.
The NFL has never held fast to its regulations and has made changes almost every offseason. However, there might not be any of note this year.
The league’s competition committee co-chair, Rich McKay, recently revealed as much.
McKay spoke to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine this week and suggested that there won’t be much in the way of alterations.
“The game is in a pretty good place,” McKay said, per ESPN, adding that he didn’t see a “big year” in terms of changes.
“There has been some discussion about changing the process for playoff seeding, but he has not yet seen a proposal yet,” the outlet noted.
Tush Push Likely Won’t Come Up During Talks Regarding Changes To NFL Rules

McKay also disclosed that the committee discussed the league’s catch rule at length.
This became a point of contention at the end of the Bills-Broncos Divisional Round game last month.
“Our technology today is extraordinary, so the ability to go frame by frame and slow things down, it’s a great solution for a lot of things but it does present challenges for others,” McKay said.
He added: “We need to make sure your rules, as written, don’t just match up [with] what’s on the field but how it’s looked at in replay.”
Meanwhile, the Tush Push remains one of the NFL’s most controversial plays but doesn’t appear to be going anywhere.
Votes to ban the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback fell short last year, and it was expected to be revisited this offseason. However, McKay has revealed that there’s no proposal to have it outlawed this time around.
“There’s no team proposal that I’ve seen from it,” he said. “So, I wouldn’t envision it. But you never know.
The Eagle will definitely welcome this.
