NFL Doc Gives Diagnosis On Jeremiyah Love Injury, And It’s Another Brutal Blow For The Rookie RB [VIDEO]

The Arizona Cardinals thought they finally had their backfield boost back with rookie running back Jeremiyah Love returning against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. Unfortunately, his comeback didn’t last long. Love hurt his right ankle again in the first quarter of Sunday’s game and had to leave the field with team trainers.
The injury got a new problem for Arizona. Love missed the previous two games with an ankle problem, and Sunday’s setback involved the same ankle. After spending 11 minutes in the medical tent on the sideline, Love headed for the X-ray.
The Cardinals later listed him as questionable to return. Before going down, Love managed nine carries for just 23 yards and got stopped on a crucial fourth-and-1 try near the goal line, with Dallas taking a 14-3 lead at halftime.
NFL Doctor Shares Concerning Update On Jeremiyah Love

The latest injury update from Dr. David J. Chao offers little encouragement for the Cardinals. The former NFL team physician and board-certified orthopedic surgeon shared his assessment after watching video of the play.
“By video, right ankle injury again. Same as preseason. Another high ankle mechanism. Hard to return,” Chao wrote on X.

His assessment points to another possible high ankle injury. That could create more problems for Love, especially after he already missed two games with the same ankle issue.
Arizona made Love the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Cardinals gave him a four-year, $53.02 million contract, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history by total contract value.
The rookie entered Sunday’s game with 245 rushing yards and two total touchdowns through five appearances. He averaged 3.7 yards per carry.
The Cardinals hoped his return would give their offense a lift. Instead, they now face more questions about his availability.
Love’s injury also comes at a difficult time for Arizona. The team needs its young running back to stay healthy and build some momentum. If Chao’s assessment proves accurate, the Cardinals could face another spell without their prized rookie.
