UTSA Roadrunners kicker and 2026 NFL Draft prospect Jaffer Murphy turned heads with a ridiculous showing at his pro day.
Jaffer Murphy was a placekicker for the Roadrunners last season. But, he’s not like your average NFL kicker. Take a glance at his physique, though, and you might think that he’s a defensive back or wide receiver.
Football placekickers and punters have to have some speed in order to track down the opposing team’s return man. But for a placekicker, Murphy’s speed is especially off the charts.

Per Chuck Miketinac of Fox San Antonio, Murphy had a lights-out performance at his UTSA pro day. He made 12 of 13 field goal attempts, including a 70-yarder through tough windy conditions.
Not only that, but Murphy also ran a 40-yard dash of 4.5.
Who got the most NFL attention after UTSA’s Pro Day? Kick off specialist Jaffer Murphy, a former college soccer player, turned D-2 place kicker. Jaffer made 12 of his 13 FG’s through a heavy cross wind, including a 70-yarder that hit the back net. He also ran a 4.5! @jaffermurphy pic.twitter.com/Xg6prPhQNx

Take note there, NFL scouts.
Jeffer Murphy Should Put NFL Teams On Notice

Per Sports Reference, Murphy appeared in 13 games for UTSA last season. He had two tackles on defense and made his only extra point attempt.
His stat line might not turn heads, but the elite athleticism should have NFL teams interested. Remember, Antonio Gates, Kurt Warner, Tony Romo and James Harrison weren’t highly-touted. Yet, they all carved out excellent careers after going undrafted.
Murphy’s big leg and world-class athleticism should have NFL teams interested. He might not get selected in the draft, but other teams oughta at least invite him for tryouts and see if Murphy could lock down a roster spot.
