Philip Rivers is back, but how serviceable will he be?

The Colts called on the 44-year-old future Hall of Famer to save the season. Following a workout on Monday, the team made a final decision and signed him to the practice squad.

A week ago, Rivers was preparing for a potential Hall of Fame induction. After a five-year absence from football, he is making a shocking return to the NFL. Rivers will go from off the couch straight into the starting lineup as the Colts fight for a playoff spot.

He was added to the team’s 53-man roster Saturday, paving the way for the 44-year-old to start Sunday.

Before Sunday’s contest, images surfaced of Philip Rivers on the field preparing to play. He did not look in shape.

Social media accused him of pulling a James Harden as a side-by-side picture showed both of their bellies. Back then, Harden was trying to get traded from the Rockets. Rivers is coming off the couch and likely hasn’t touched a gym until this week.

Given the circumstances, the odds appear stacked against Rivers.

Amid his comeback, EA revealed that the Indianapolis Colts quarterback will have a 70 overall rating. He’ll have an 83 throw power, 86 short throw accuracy, and 59 speed.
