Football fans are ripping on Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh after his costly and painful mistake in Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite a mostly disappointing performance throughout the 2025 regular season, John Harbaugh and the Ravens had one last shot at redemption. They visited their archrivals in a win-or-go-home game for the AFC North.

But Ravens kicker Tyler Loop missed a game-winning 44-yard field goal attempt on the final play. It went wide right, and the Ravens fell 26-24. Lamar Jackson’s heartbreaking reaction to Loop’s miss said it all.

Many folks are pointing the finger squarely at Loop. But John Harbaugh also made one questionable call that warrants additional criticism.

On 4th-and-7, Jackson completed a ridiculous 26-yard pass to Isaiah Likely for 24 yards. With 14 seconds and a timeout remaining, Baltimore could have easily run an extra play or two to make the field goal easier for Loop.

Instead, Harbaugh called for Jackson to take a knee, losing two yards in the process. Playing it safe there didn’t work out, and fans wasted no time ripping on Harbaugh.

“Harbaugh calling for a knee to center the ball likely cost his team anywhere between 5-10% win expectancy. As Raven of a loss as you’ll ever see – the grand finale,” a fan said.

“Same brain cuz!!! What is the harm in getting closer OR maybe pop one??? They need to fire dude,” a user commented.

“Can i just say absolutely fantastic coaching by John Harbaugh. You have one if not the worse kicker in the NFL and you Took a knee for a 2 yard loss instead of getting positive yards with Derrick Henry. Masterclass coaching by the Ravens,” another wrote.

“You might have to fire the guy at this point,” said a fan.

“That’s such a poor coaching decision to take a knee, and lose a couple yards at that…. just awful,” a user quipped.

“Harbaugh is the loser here. Let’s take a knee instead of getting our young kicker closer in a tough environment with that on the line,” said a fan.

Per ESPN, Loop didn’t miss a single field goal under 40 yards all season. So, yes, the math suggests that John Harbaugh made a ridiculous decision.
