Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson nearly broke an NFL Draft Combine record, and social media is disliking how he went about it.

The former Arizona State wide receiver delivered one of the most eye-opening performances of the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday. Known for his speed and tracking ability on the field, Tyson showcased a different skill for scouts — his strength.

Tyson was one repetition away from tying the wide receiver record for bench press with 26 repetitions of 225 pounds benched. The current record is 27 repetitions. It was set by Brooks Foster in 2009 and matched by Greg Little in 2011. The feat was also matched by DK Metcalf and former Sun Devil N’Keal Harry in 2019.

Unlike the players before him, fans are not thrilled with Jordyn Tyson.

Fans Demand Investigation Into Jordyn Tyson

Many former college players are stealing the show at the NFL combine. Jordyn Tyson is one of them.

The former Arizona State wideout is the top-ranked WR in this class, just ahead of Ohio State’s Carnell Tate. He helped his cause with his bench press feat over the weekend.

However, during his bench pressing, he kept moving his buttocks off the bench. Not many of his reps should’ve counted. Because of that, fans want him investigated.

“Bouncing and butt lifting. Holy moly. Awful,” one fan said.

“Who bounces like that when benching lol,” a second fan wrote.

“Rules are rules. This was a set of 0 reps,” a third fan added of Jordyn Tyson.

“I mean, the video pretty clearly shows it doesn’t count 😂,” a fourth person stated.

“Nothing to investigate. His count is ZERO,” one final fan commented.

Linemen and tight ends typically dominate the bench press. His near-record mark is especially notable at a position that prioritizes speed and separation.

The only people’s opinion that should matter is the teams that want to draft him. In 2025, Tyson recorded 711 receiving yards and eight touchdowns over nine games for the Sun Devils. He averaged 11.7 yards per reception.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranks Tyson as the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2026 NFL draft class.
