When you put a polarizing commentator like Cris Collinsworth in the booth for a Kansas City Chiefs game? You usually get a lot of angry responses from fans.

The Chiefs are one of those professional sports teams that you love or hate. Collinsworth is one of those announcers you also appreciate or wish would retire. There is hardly an in-between.

Collinsworth and Tirico called the Chiefs’ pivotal Week 14 clash against the Houston Texans on ‘Sunday Night Football.’ Houston upset the defending AFC Champions 20-10, ending the Chiefs’ bid for a 10th straight AFC West division crown.

A video surfaced of Chiefs fans leaving the game with five minutes left in the fourth quarter, despite it being a one-score game. KC fans may have given up on their team this year, but Collinsworth is not.

During the broadcast, Cris Collinsworth claimed that he still believed Kansas City could reach the Super Bowl. His defense of the struggling 6-7 Chiefs led to fiery responses from fans.

“they gotta get Chris collinsworth off of chiefs games . He’s legit slobbering KC and it’s so evident every single game he does of theirs. “Hurry up, hurry up they gotta challenge that “. Asking for replay assists for Kansas City twice . I mean come on here what’re we doing?” a user quipped.

“In other news Cris Collingsworth should never be allowed to cover another Chiefs game again in his life. His bias consistently clouds his judgement to commentate an unbiased game. 🥴🥴🥴,” a fan wrote.

“Collinsworth calling the 6-6 Chiefs the “powerhouse of the world” on national television is wild to me. Ride them some more,” said another.

“That’s Cris Collinsworth’s second reference to the Chiefs as “the champs.” He does know they got stomped in the Super Bowl last year and they’ve sucked for most of this season…?” wrote a fan.

“I’ve NEVER seen anyone ride the Chiefs more than Cris Collinsworth. It’s insane. Why is he even allowed to commentate on anyone playing the Chiefs?” a fan asked.

“No Cris Collinsworth, it’s over. Mahomes hasn’t done jack squat all night. 🙄🥴,” said another.

ESPN’s computer model gives Kansas City just a 16.4 percent chance of making the playoffs. They’ll have to win out and hope one of the AFC wild-card holders inexplicably collapses. Neither scenario is likely.

Cris Collinsworth Has No More Chiefs Game Assignments This Season

The good news for disgruntled fans who think Collinsworth has an obsession with the Chiefs? He’s not scheduled to call any more of their games this year.

This week’s Sunday nighter features the Minnesota Vikings at the Dallas Cowboys. The Cincinnati Bengals are scheduled to visit the Miami Dolphins in the Week 16 ‘SNF’ game. Of course, there’s a good chance it’ll be flexed out.

Week 17 will see Caleb Williams’ Chicago Bears visit the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. The last regular-season ‘SNF’ game will be on with major playoff implications. It’s unlikely that the Chiefs’ road game against the hapless Las Vegas Raiders will be thrown into a prime-time slot.
