NFL fans strongly opposed the league’s plans to add a new game to the calendar. This time it won’t be an extra week for every team, but a game played too close to Sundays and Mondays.

The league continues to explore ways to add one more week to the calendar. Meanwhile, they plan to give fans more days of football. That would be a good idea, except that the vast majority of fans rejected it.

On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the league is studying the possibility of having a game on Thanksgiving Eve. This year, it will be November 25.

“NFL now is exploring playing a game on Thanksgiving Eve as early as this season. This year this would be Wednesday, Nov. 25,” Schefter wrote.

Many fans disagreed with the idea. They didn’t hesitate to blast the league for adding an unnecessary game to the NFL schedule when nobody asked for it.

“Possibly an unpopular opinion: I want as much NFL football to be played on Sunday’s as possible. Tired of this new trend where everyday is a game-day lol,” one fan said.

“I don’t know if there’s a single person who wants this,” another fan said.

“This is a terrible idea. Players already complain about Thursday night games bc of the short turn around. Now to shorten it even more? NFLPA should be all over this,” a third fan said.

“No team should have to play Sunday and then Wednesday. This should be a game featuring only teams who either play Thursday night the week prior or are coming off a BYE,” a fourth fan said.

“NFL really trying to turn Thanksgiving into a full week of football,” a fifth fan added.

“Player safety is ‘definitely’ at the forefront of what the NFL truly cares about… Greed above everything for the NFL,” a sixth fan noted.

The league added a game on Black Friday. Adding one on Wednesday would put the teams participating in it in a complex position, especially when it comes to resting.
