NFL insider Ian Rapoport found himself under fire again after his comments on C.J. Stroud’s future with the Houston Texans. After a terrific rookie season, Stroud’s level has decreased. The Texans advanced to the playoffs in 2025, but many credited the defense for their success.

While some think the Texans should move on from him, Texans general manager Nick Caserio rejected that notion. He said it was a stupid idea to think the Texans should entertain parting ways with the former No. 2 pick.

“It’s moronic. We’re not trading the guy,” Caserio told reporters. “He’s our quarterback. He’s gonna be playing quarterback for the Houston Texans in 2026. Anything beyond that, that’s your world. You guys can speculate on that. But we’re not trading C.J. Stroud.”

Rapoport shared the comments and added a personal message.

“Not sure why this needed to be said, but here we are.”

Plenty of fans had a lot to say about Ian Rapoport’s comments and Stroud’s play, noting that the quarterback gave the Texans reason to consider moving on from him.

“‘Not sure why this needed to be said’ we have eyes and watch the game,” one fan said.

“He’s been downright bad at every point over the last two years,” another fan said.

“Did you see his pressure performances this year? Woof!!” a third fan said.

“Because he was mediocre all year and crapped his pants in shocking fashion in the playoffs?” a fourth fan added.

“The generational playoff run he had this year is why it needed to be said, CJs stock is it at an all time low,” a fifth fan added.

“He was completely terrible in the playoffs and mediocre for half the regular season. Not saying he should be gone but he doesn’t seem like a lock franchise qb anymore,” a sixth fan wrote.

C.J. Stroud recorded the worst season of his career in 2024. He posted career highs in games played (14). completions (273), yards (3,041), touchdowns (19) and a second-worst eight interceptions. He was under heavy scrutiny all season long, and fans thought the Texans should at least consider parting ways with him.
