NFL Fans Think Cameraman Tried To Sabotage Shedeur Sanders On Live TV [VIDEO]

A Browns broadcast camera missed Shedeur Sanders’ throw entirely during Saturday’s preseason opener, and fans think they know why.

Sanders entered the game against the Bears in the third quarter, taking over after Chicago built a 17-10 lead. 

On one of his early snaps, the broadcast camera zoomed in tight on the wrong part of the field, failing to show either Sanders’ release or the resulting catch downfield. One popular account shared the clip on X, captioning it, “Cameraman out here sabotaging Shedeur.”

Fans Piled On With Jokes About The Camera Crew

The replies filled up fast with fans riffing on the joke. One person wrote, “Guess they use backup camera men in the preseason too.” 

Another added, “It’s preseason for the camera crew as well.” 

A third fan chimed in, “Ha! I was thinking the same thing and I’m not even a Browns fan.” 

Someone else admitted, “Thought I was bootlegging on a YouTube stream at first when this happened.”

The missed shot came during an otherwise active stretch for Sanders. He came off the bench aggressively, connecting on throws of 24 and 35 yards within his first four snaps. He finished the day 6-of-11 for 79 yards with an interception, working mostly behind Cleveland’s second-team offense against Chicago’s reserves.

Sanders entered Saturday’s game as the backup, a notable shift after Cleveland handed him a tough roster update just two days before kickoff that confirmed Deshaun Watson would start over him. 

Watson went 11-of-15 for 126 yards without a touchdown or interception, though he lost a fumble on a strip sack, giving new head coach Todd Monken plenty of preseason film to sort through as the Browns’ quarterback competition continues.

The QB Battle Adds Extra Weight To Every Sanders Rep

Every snap Sanders takes this preseason carries extra scrutiny, given how unsettled the Browns’ quarterback situation remains. Sanders was recently ranked dead last among 35 qualified quarterbacks in an anonymous poll of NFL coaches and executives conducted by The Athletic’s Mike Sando, a result that only raised the stakes on how he performs this summer.

That backdrop is part of why a simple camera error turned into a bigger talking point online. A missed replay wouldn’t normally draw much attention, but with Sanders fighting for every rep and every impression, fans were quick to note that even the broadcast seemed to work against him on Saturday.

The Browns continue their preseason slate next week, with both quarterbacks expected to see more extended action before final roster decisions take shape.
