The NFL isn’t backing down against President Donald Trump’s comments about how fan-friendly its broadcast plans are.
Earlier this week, the politician claimed that fans needed to pay over $1,000 to watch games.
“They have that stupid kickoff thing that you can’t watch,” Trump said. “It’s unwatchable. I hate the games where they have the new phony kickoff. … I hope college football doesn’t do that.
“There’s something very sad when they take football away from many, many people, he continued. “Very sad. I don’t like it… They’re making a lot of money. They could make a little bit less. They could let the people see. You have people that live for Sunday. They live. They can’t think about anything else, and then all of a sudden they’re gonna have to pay $1,000 a game. It’s crazy, so I’m not happy about it.”
NFL Responds To Donald Trump’s Claims

On Friday, the league issued a response to Trump and to those who felt the league and its partners were charging fans too much for their services. NFL executive vice president of media distribution Hans Schroeder said the league won’t make any changes to its partnership with streaming services.
“We love our model,” he said, via ESPN’s Stephen Holder. “We think we have the most fan-friendly model there is of any sport or entertainment as far as distribution.”
League officials say the league airs 87% of its games on free broadcast networks CBS, NBC, FOX, and ABC. However, the Justice Department reportedly began reviewing the league’s broadcast distribution decisions.
